Food for thought

I just read an illuminating article on American politics.

Eight years ago, we elected Bush, an oil executive, and Cheney, a military contractor.  In those eight years, oil prices, as well as what we are paying (even WITH open-bid contracts) for military supplies, have skyrocketed.

Now the Republicans are running the husband of a beer heiress.  Eight years of McCain and we’ll be paying $35 a six-pack…

America can’t take any more of this.  What’s next, a paper executive?  Intel’s CEO?

I predict the big news will be air filters in 8 years.  If we’re still around to breathe.

Hugs,
Me

  1. @Amethyst62 – “It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.” – attributed to Josip Stalin (there is some controversy about this, as he never ran an election, and the source has not been found — sounds like the election in question, no?)

  2. @mordewis – Everyone I talk to about the upcoming election has said that it will be a democrat in the oval office. Hmmm… I always have to ask them what makes them think that McCain won’t steal the office like Bush did? The people are no longer in control of their most important right. The president is suppose to be working for us… not against us. We are suppose to have final say… not him.
