Pleasing prevents you from experiencing your emotions because you are
trying to feel the emotions other people are experiencing. You become
lost in the attempt.
– Gary Zukav & Linda Francis, The Heart of the Soul

To assist spiritual progress, choose verifiable teachers and teachings
and avoid those that have something to gain by one’s adherence to or
alignment with them. Avoid groups or teachers that are needy,
acquisitive, or controlling. The Self is completely fulfilling and has
no needs and nothing to gain. The Teacher is a Servant of Truth and not
its originator. All serve God who strive for God.
– David Hawkins

The guiltless mind cannot suffer.

One illusion cherished and defended against the truth makes all truth
meaningless, and all illusions real. Such is the power of belief.

Behind every positive self-concept is the hidden fear of not being good
enough. Behind every negative self-concept is the hidden desire of
being the greatest or better than others. Behind the confident ego’s
feeling of and continuing need for superiority is the unconscious fear
of inferiority…All you need to know is this: Whenever you feel
superior or inferior to anyone, that’s the ego in you.
– Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth

If you think about hating being overweight you will have to act upon
what you are thinking and more hating being overweight will continue to
show up in your life.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.

Humility does not mean you think less of yourself. It means you think of yourself less.

Thinking about inner peace destroys inner peace. The patient who constantly feels his pulse is not getting any better.

If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we would find in
each man’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.

Tolerance comes of age. I see no fault committed that I myself could not have committed at some time or other.
– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the
intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful
to these teachers.

This day you can choose, right in this moment, if you want to lead a
miserable, agonizing life. You’re going to be a day older no matter how
you choose.

The devotee knelt to be initiated into discipleship. The guru whispered
the sacred mantra into his ear, warning him not to reveal it to anyone.

“What will happen if I do?” asked the devotee.

Said the guru, “Anyone to whom you reveal the mantra will be liberated
from the bondage of ignorance and suffering, but you yourself will be
excluded from discipleship and suffer damnation.”

No sooner had he heard those words than the devotee rushed to the
marketplace, collected a large crowd around him, and repeated the
sacred mantra for all to hear.

The disciples reported this to the guru and demanded that the man be expelled from the monastery for his disobedience.

The guru smiled and said, “He has no need of anything I can teach. His action has shown him to be a guru in his own right.”

“We can heal all our problems.”

We love to blame others for what ails us. Yet this is never satisfying
for long. It’s much more fruitful to accept responsibility for whatever
is going on in our lives, because only then can we get free of the
problem for good.

This seems impossible, perhaps. But until we have taken charge of the
perspective we desire, we can’t fathom how easy it really is. Seeing
the events of our lives through the loving eyes of the Holy Spirit
eliminates their sting. What we perceive as problems are nothing more
than faulty perceptions of the myriad expressions of love or appeals
for healing and help. Cultivating the willingness and vision to see
only love are wonderful exercises for the mind.

“Problems are as fleeting as the blink of my eye.

They can also be refocused on at will.

I am the healer of my life.”
