Nope, I didn’t wait until the morning… Chuck came home from work about 8:30, not midnight as I expected, so I slammed the batteries in the CD player, threw my stuff in the car, and hit the road.  No problems getting home, and not a moment too soon.  John got home just a little after I did, and helped me schlep in the rest of my stuff.

Among all the mail I had waiting for me was a new issue of Xenofilkia, and they published an old filk of mine, “Our Old Steve” (about Steve Goodman, to a tune of his)… nice to see it in print, wasn’t expecting that… next issue of Xeno I hope to see “Columbia” in print.

I’m very confused, but very glad to be home.  I really wanted everything to work out, but it didn’t, so no use trying to MAKE it work.  Sapphire has already been stroking my energy to help me calm down…

Got email from my Chinese buddy, He Chao, asking me what I thought about the war in Iraq.  Or more generally, what Americans thought about the war in Iraq.  I told him that 1/3 of Americans thought the President knew what he was doing and had more information than the rest of us, 1/3 of us thought gee, he sure can kick butt, which means 2/3 of us support the war, and the rest of us think it’s an illegal war which makes Bush a war criminal.  I’m in the latter third…  If we can’t find money for Social Security, for medication for Seniors, for education, where the hell are we finding $1,000,000,000 a fucking WEEK to support a war?

Someone I was talking to said that if someone hits you, you hit them back.  I suggested that yes, someone hit us, and we couldn’t find them to hit them back so we went looking for someone ELSE to hit.  Regular bullies, we are.  Why don’t we pick on someone our own size?

You want to go after al Qaeda?  Well, many of the al Qaeda training camps are/were in Somalia, why not attack Somalia?  90% of the people involved in the Twin Towers attack were Saudi citizens, why not attack Saudi Arabia?  Unless I missed something, other than Saddam sticking his tongue out and applauding, there was absolutely NO connection between 9/11 and Iraq. 

I could go on for hours about this.  I think the whole thing sucks, and I hope someone arrests Bush and drags him before the World Court on War Crimes charges.  Oh yeah, Bush doesn’t accept the jurisdiction of the World Court.  Bully for him.  And I do mean Bully.
