Checking In
I have my moving date. September 23. My boss told me yesterday morning that the paychecks would not be as early as she originally thought… but that, as she knew I was waiting for that for my move, she would advance me the money. I have it, as soon as it gets done moving from PayPal to my bank. So I have started calling friends to get help loading. As soon as the money gets to the bank, I will be reserving a Uhaul truck and getting more boxes.
I’ve also begun notifying my close friends, to make sure they know of the move.
Rehearsal tonight was very scattered, but we got a lot done. The script is firmed up through Scene 52, which is about halfway unless Athena writes more scenes. As I’m the Editorial Assistant, this is important — until I get the scenes, they don’t make it into the script.
In some ways, the rehearsals are getting better. I think this movie just might make it. We are conflating so many stories from so many different years, but the overall story is strong and the other stories do reinforce it. If someone does research on the specifics, they might laugh a lot. But on its own merits, it could be a force for good.
I’ll be going to SerpentStone Harvest festival, the weekend before the move. I get to see the space. The basement, in full, is approx. 20’x36′, and the finished part is 20’x12′, which is likely enough room for me until we can get more done — completed, it might be twice my current space. And here’s the good part: I will no longer be listed by any branch of the government as “homeless”, which I have been since 1998 despite housing. I will not be dependent on government for my housing, and will also be paying less for my housing expenses. And I will be among very close friends, and have perhaps 100 more close friends within 50 miles of me.

I also found that Sevierville has a baseball team — at a higher level than Asheville’s. The team formerly in Knoxville was saved from moving out of the area by Sevierville building a stadium in the Kodak community, just north of I-40.
It’s all too good. Now if people in Asheville wouldn’t keep making me offers.
I have two friends who will really miss me, and a couple others who will see me a lot less but who will probably be coming to Gatherings.
I’m still managing to keep up with my work for Eternal Press and Damnation Books, LLC. Obviously doing well, if my boss was willing (without being asked) to advance me the money for the move.
Not sure what else to say. Lots more going on that I probably shouldn’t talk about. And people say homeless people on the dole don’t do anything.
