More misleading car commercials

Ya know, I really don’t mind those ads touting their super sales event, or the ones with the cartoon animals or people telling you how you should trust this dealer (hey, people, you’re being asked to trust a non-existing artistic construct!)…  But then we get to the Ford commercials.  Paraphrased as exactly as possible, they go:

We lied to thousands of Americans that we were doing “market research” to get them to try our cars.  Twenty of them fell for it and could be bribed to talk, on camera, about how much they preferred our vehicle.  We now present these patsies as evidence of how good our cars are, and we’re not about to tell you how many of them actually bought a Ford or how much we paid them to do this commercial — or for that matter, whether they are actually paid actors.

Don’t you love truth in advertising???

If so, don’t buy a Ford.  (Note: This is not a statement on the quality of Ford vehicles, merely that of Ford commercials.)

Hugs,
Me

  1. The only car commercials that amused me were the batch that they did with extreme driving. And the only reason I liked them was the disclaimers they ran at the bottom. Lots of tongue and cheek references to people who could really drive on top of wires and such.Have a great day!
