More Bad Advertising
I just saw a commercial for some tiny gold-plated magnets that you stick on your left ear — to quit smoking. Well, ok, maybe the acupressure point, if you hit it right, will release some endorphins… don’t think it would be long-term…
But the kicker was the guarantee — try them for 30 days, and if they don’t work for you, send them back — “and you pay nothing more!” No refund. No nothing. Unless they have some REALLY odd scam, you wouldn’t pay anything more if you DIDN’T send them back, yes?

I’ve seen that commercial. I haven’t really paid much attention to it… or the guarantee. I’m a smoker and when I’m ready to quit, I will. That’s my belief anyway… and the mind is a powerful tool.
@Amethyst62 – I have quit smoking everything except cigars (which I do not inhale, although I probably get my share of second-hand smoke). I think it’s time for me to quit those, as it is not inexpensive and I am still in a walloping amount of debt. I spend about $80 every other month on my smokes, and that would go a ways towards clearing up things. I also have a morning cough, and seem to be getting emphysema (judging by my shortness of breath on those long uphill walks from the bus station). So I think it’s time I quit… but am too frugal to just throw them out. Which means I will quit when I run out of current stock — and hope I can stick to my guns when that happens.Nonetheless, I would NOT purchase a product whose only guarantee is that if I send them back, I won’t pay them any more money!Hugs,Me
@mordewis – I hope that you can stick to your guns, too. I agree that their advertising is crap. I still wonder just how many people will fall for that line. Unfortunately, people hear what they want to hear.

im at the end of my tether with this quitting melarki i spose deep down i dont want to,i really want to because i promised my dad,and i HATE myself everytime i lite up a fag,i,ve tried patches,nicotine tubes,zyban,champix arhh maybe i should get a jar with a lid,fill a quarter of the jar with water and plonk 20 fag butts in there shut the lid and have a good sniff whenever i want a fag,

@EagleSpirit – I’m sorry you fell for the crap about the drugs (Chantix, Zyban — both of which are the same thing, Wellbutrin, a psych drug). It’s really hard to quit when you don’t want to. However, it is also known that, like the benzodiazapene family of drugs, tobacco gives you that feeling that it’s good for you and you don’t need to quit… don’t want to… it’s a long time before you notice that it has gone to “can’t” and you still don’t believe it, not really, not deep down. The truth is that deep down is the ONLY place you DO believe that smoking’s bad — but the chemicals in the tobacco have damaged your neuroreceptors. The Zyban commercial is right, you grow more of a certain type of neuroreceptor from smoking. You do the same thing from taking ANY psych drug — but the drug companies are telling the users of psych drugs that this is not the case (while selling them the same drugs under a different name). They know, and they don’t want US to know. OK, that was a good rant and I’ll stop now.
@EagleSpirit – I just checked my facts — Chantix (varenicline) is not the same as Wellbutrin, but Zyban is. They both have the same activity, to eliminate the cytisine activity in your brain and starve the chemical receptors.
